I love it when previous clients return to me with new additions to their families! Amanda first contacted me when her first son was born almost 2 years ago. I had the pleasure of taking newborn portraits of him then and now I get that privileged again to take not only newborn but also maternity portraits to celebrate her second little boy!
I met with Amanda, her husband Simon and their almost 2 year old son James out at Clear Creek History Park on a beautiful but bright morning the last weekend in September to capture some maternity portraits. Amanda was very excited about the session because she did not have maternity portraits taken with her older son, she actually found me after he had already arrived.
Amanda and I had communicated back and forth about clothing prior to the session. After my recommendations to choose a long solid colored gown for herself and then have the boys coordinate NOT match she ordered this gown online and they then chose perfect outfits for Simon and James to go with it! I personally think she nailed the clothing choices and she looks STUNNING in this dress!!!!!
I have to admit, two year olds (or those about to turn two) are not the most cooperative subjects! James wanted nothing to do with this photo shoot, it was much more fun to play in the water and run around the park. Every time he saw the camera his grumpy face came out or he hid from me lol. As always though I managed to get a few adorable portraits with him and even tricked him into letting me capture a smile!
We ended this session with this shot of the School of Mines M on Mount Zion in the background. This was a special shot for them since Simon attended the School of Mines. I was a little worried since it was SO BRIGHT that morning that it would not come out but through the magic of Photoshop I was able to save the shot for them!
I am so excited to create some beautiful newborn portraits for them in a few weeks when their baby boy arrives! Keep an eye out for a sneak peek of that session sometime next month!!!!
