I can’t believe summer is more than half way over! School will be starting before we know if and for those with high school seniors, senior yearbook portraits will be due soon. I wanted to share a few tips for having an awesome senior session!
#1 Book early: This is busy season for most photographers. The worst thing you can do is wait until the last minute and wind up rushing to get the portraits to the school on time. I recommend having your senior session a minimum 4-5 weeks before the yearbook portrait is due. I do offer rush service for yearbook portraits however there is an additional charge for this.
#2 Show off your interests: I LOVE to create something unique and show off your interests and personality. Make sure when you contact me you tell me what you love to do. This can be anything, it doesn’t have to be your traditional sports pictures. Do you love to read? Are you into comics or cosplay? Are you an artist? Maybe you collect something, or have a cool car you want in your portrait. Whatever it is I would love to use it in your shoot!
#3 Look your best: Make sure to drink plenty of water and get plenty of sleep the week before your session. This is the best thing you can do for your skin. Don’t try out any new hair cuts or colors within two weeks of your session. I also don’t recommend tanning within two weeks of your session. Girls keep you makeup simple and not overdone. I will edit blemished so please don’t try to cake on makeup to cover them, this will show in your portraits.
#4 Accessorize: I love it when my seniors bring lots of accessories! Bring your hats, scarves, shoes, jewelry and letter jacket. Girls, don’t forget to bring your favorite heals!
#5 Wear something comfortable: While it is nice to have a dressy outfit for a few shots, make sure to bring at least one outfit that is casual and comfortable and that you love! Make sure it is something that you can move in and sit or stand in a variety of poses. Girls please don’t bring 4 outfits with short skirts to your session. At least one outfit should be pants or shorts.
